“Come, my people, enter into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.” (Isaiah 26:20). This passage speaks of divine judgment and the unveiling of hidden sin. When blood is shed, it cries out to God, just as Abel’s blood did in Genesis 4:10.
As of May 31, 2025, an estimated 18.5 million abortions have taken place globally this year alone (Worldometer). Since Roe v. Wade in 1973, the U.S. has seen over 86 million abortions (AbortionClock.com). These staggering numbers reveal the magnitude of innocent blood spilled upon the earth. Though culture normalizes it, Scripture is unambiguous: abortion is the taking of life made in God’s image (Psalm 139:13–16), an act God hates (Proverbs 6:16–17).
Yet, Isaiah also points us to hope. The same God who judges is faithful to forgive. As 1 John 1:9 declares, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” For those who repent, there is healing, restoration, and grace through Christ.
This verse reminds us that no injustice will remain hidden forever. The blood cries out, and the Judge of all the earth will do right.
